ABOUT

Meet

My name is Mike Hacker, but many know me as Hax. I became a professional photographer with my own studio in the mid 80’s then became a filmmaker. Today I run my own video communication business. Throughout that time, I have taken many personal photographs from single random ones to little personal projects.

I had my first personal photographic exhibition in 2004. This year, 2024, I had a joint exhibition with my dear friend and painter Liz Harwood.

You may be forgiven for assuming that Africa plays a big part in my work. You’d be right, but it's not the sum of my personal work. I have photographed many other subjects, and I will be sharing them here.

Sometimes I have find myself taking pictures of subjects without really knowing why I was taking them. I would save them without knowing really why, or so I thought so at the time. Particularly textures, shapes and more abstract framing of certain subjects. Now, in a new phase of personal work, I find myself beginning to understand how some of these seemingly obscure images, are suitable for this new era in my image making.

What Clients Are Saying

"The picture we have from Hax is a delightful reminder of our trip to Africa. It’s a beautiful contrasted sunset, with a deep red evening sky, behind an deeply shadowed tree on an African plane, which brings a smile to my face every time I walk past it.
It’s amazing how a picture can invoke wonderful happy memories."
